Bada Bagh is located about 8 kms from the city of Jaisalmer. The name ‘Bada Bagh’ means big garden. It is a series of royal cenotaphs or chhatris dedicated to the Maharajas of Jaisalmer state. Whenever a King or his family members used to die, his family used to construct a cenotaph in his memory. The cenotaphs are yellow in color as they are made of yellow limestone. The architecture and colour of these monuments are amazing and they are excellent for architecture and wedding photography.
Bada bagh can be reached by hiring a tuk-tuk or car, as public transportation is not available. It is better to book your vehicle for a round trip as Bada bagh lies in a deserted area and you will not find any mode of transportation on your way back. Entry fees is required to enter Bada Bagh and there are separate charges for camera. Guides are available there, who will show you around, even though I did not want one, I had to take as they were very persisting and wouldn’t leave me alone. Overall, it is very small place and will take maximum 1 hour to visit it.
