Milan Mela is a large open ground located in Kolkata, opposite to the Science city. It is mainly used as a exhibition centre and its main purpose is to promote trade and industry, art and culture, commerce and business opportunities for West Bengal. I visited the Handicraft fair (also known as hasta shilpa mela) at Milan Mela in 2016 and was mesmerized by the rich culture and heritage of West Bengal. One can buy and witness a huge collection terracotta products, wooden handicrafts, paintings, ornaments, handmade toys, clothing accessories, handicraft products, bamboo and cane products, jute bags, pottery items etc. A lot of local artisans and weavers come from rural parts of Bengal in order to showcase their product.
