Koley market is a huge wholesale fruit and vegetable market, located in Sealdah, right next to the George Telegraph Training Institute. The inside is dark and dingy, extremely dirty, full of chaos and mayhem and smells of rotten vegetables. The floors are always wet and slippery, so be careful while walking or you might fall down. But, for those interested in photography, Koley market and its surroundings offer fantastic opportunities to capture people in their natural way. Doing photography can be a bit tough as the place is heavily congested, with people continuously coming and going, but with enough time and patience it can be done. Photowalks are also conducted on Sundays occasionally by various photography organizations. Sealdah is located in the centre of Kolkata and can be reached by train, bus or tuk-tuk. Just ask anybody and they will happily point you in that direction. Some of the pictures that I have taken in the market are given below –
