Kuldhara is an abandoned village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, India. It is thought to be haunted and sometimes referred to as the ghost village. It is located about 18 km south-west of the Jaisalmer city and you have to hire a private car if you want to reach it. The entire village was abandoned by the early 19th century for unknown reasons. According to Wikipedia, there are several reasons given like dwindling water supply, persecution by the Jaisalmer State’s minister Salim Singh and earthquake. It is said that while deserting the village, the Paliwals imposed a curse that no one would be able to re-occupy the village. Those who tried to re-populate the village experienced paranormal activities, and therefore, the village remains uninhabited. I personally, did not find anything scary or haunted about the village. Nevertheless, staying at night is not recommended and it is best it during daytime for 1 hour. I visited it on the way to the sand dunes and did some photography there, you can find my pictures below –
