The city of Udaipur has been given various names like ‘Venice of the east’, ‘City of lakes’ and ‘White city’ which is the reason I was excited to visit and do photography in such a wonderful city. Even the famous James Bond film “Octopussy” was also filmed in this very city. I visited Udaipur for two days in November as the weather remains cool during that time. I have divided my photography into three parts namely architecture, street and landscape, which you can find below –
Udaipur architecture photography
The “Çity palace” in Udaipur has some great architectural features and I have felt that the interior rooms are quite colorful and decorative compared to other forts. Even Bagore-ki-Haveli near to the lake has some unique features, although it doesn’t stand up to the mighty ‘City palace’. Both are open throughout the day and there are separate charges for camera. I don’t remember how much but you can check official website for more information.
Udaipur street photography
The old city of Udaipur is quite unique and good for street photography as they have buildings colored in white color, which is the reason it is called the ‘white city’. Most of the white buildings are located near to the Pichola lake and City palace you have to do some walking in that area in order to spot them.
Udaipur landscape photography
The two vast lakes in Udaipur – Pichola lake and Fateh sagar lake are in the middle of the city and can be easily reached by auto rickshaw. They offer great opportunities for people interested in landscape photography. Fateh sagar lake does not get much tourists compared to Pichola lake, but I felt it was way better and cleaner. It is best to visit them early in the morning or sunset for great photos.
